Jordan's water squeeze
Jordan is one of the driest countries on Earth, and its renewable water has to stretch across a fast-growing population.
Renewable fresh water per person measures what nature replenishes each year, divided by everyone who needs it. As the population grows, each person's share shrinks even when rainfall does not.

Rain falls very unevenly. The north-western highlands get far more than the desert east and the south.
Despite scarcity, most households have access to safely managed drinking water.
